Departure from the Pearl City of the Amalfi Coast at 09:00 a.m. to reach one of the most visited sites of Europe, the Ancient City of Pompeii, buried by the Vesuvius in 79 A.D..
In roman period Pompeii was a rich and populated town, full of private and public buildings. On a summer’s day in 79 A.D, the entire town and around 20.000 of its inhabitants were buried under tons of ash and pumice because of a violent explosion of Mt Vesuvius. A shower of very fine ash was deposited everywhere to a depth of more than six meters. Today, almost 2.000 years later, you have the opportunity to discover the everyday life of the Imperial Age and imagine the panic of the people before the city was so disastrously buried. In two hours walking tour, your guide will show you the most fascinating places inside the ruins. This is a trip not to be missed for any visitor to this region of Italy.
After the Ancient City tour, you will have a chance to visit an italian vineyard on the shadows of Vesuvius; there will be a welcome drink to start the wine tour that will also include a 3 courses lunch menu (starter, main course (pasta) and dessert with 4 wines combined).
After the tour, return to Positano and drop off at your hotel at around 5.00 p.m.
